Parx Casino Shippensburg confirms its new opening day. The casino will be the first casino ever built in Cumberland County.
- Parx Casino Shippensburg launches in three weeks.
- Parx Casino, a category 4 casino.
After months of postponing, the wait will soon come to an end. Parx Casino Shippensburg, a subsidiary of Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, will open its doors on February 3. The casino will feature 500 slot machines, 48 electronic table game positions, restaurants, and bars.
The new location will become Pennsylvania’s fourth Category 4 casino.
What is a category 4 casino?
Pennsylvania’s Gaming Control Board considers these as ‘satellite casinos‘. Meaning that they can operate 300-750 slot machines and a maximum of 30 table games and add 10 more table games after the first year of operation.
The other three Category 4 casinos in the Keystone state are York County, Westmoreland County, and Lawrence County.
Parx Casino Shippensburg will join Pennsylvania’s current market of 16 brick-and-mortar casinos, 65 house video gaming terminals (VGTs), 19 iGaming websites, 18 retail sportsbooks, and 14 online sports betting platforms.
