Figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) this week revealed that total gambling revenue breached the half-a-million mark for the first time. The $515,278,831 recorded in March 2023, which is 11.35% higher than the previous year, is the highest since legalized gambling began in 2006.
The PGCB draws its data from various online and retail gambling activities. These include slots, table games, igaming, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals.

A significant increase in spending on online slots and sports wagering was observed. Players spent over 32% this year on online slots than they did the same time last year. Sports wagering also showed a 66.59% increase in monthly revenue.
Top igaming sites
Hollywood Casino at Penn National claimed the top spot for online casinos. The operator recorded $62,302,880 in March 2023, up 38.30% from the $45,050,696 posted the previous year.
Parx Casino performed exceptionally well, attracting $5,644,943 in igaming revenue in March. This figure is over 95% higher than the same time last year.
